![]() While everyone has the potential to write, there are many who do not take action. Sometimes people fear “not being a good enough” writer because they don’t have what it takes to be a writer. The good news is that everyone can be a great writer, but it takes some serious persistence, determination, and a crash course on accepting rejection. Being in the field of psychology, the world of books is foreign to me. The beauty of it though is learning something new is that it presents a new challenge and learning curve. This challenge encourages me to be like a sponge who absorbs everything I can from writing. A workshop, a seminar, a conference, a book, a conversation, a blog-a writer has an immense amount of resources to learn from today. It’s a writers responsibility to push themselves towards self-growth and to keep drafting their work into something better than before. Also, it's the common belief that writing a book is just writing and publishing. That is absolutely not the case. In fact, it could be compared to becoming an actor. Is it better for an actor to just be pretty and act well or should they have a whole other list of things added to the resume? A writer doesn't need to just promote their book, but they need to promote themselves. A great author is a great author, but with the internet and social networking-people want to learn more about the author and why they should read their book. It's a world that involves many other steps especially for those who choose to self-publish. But this is not to discourage rather to enlighten-anyone can make it happen. |

Put Us In Prison ![]() Being in Chicago, there is a plethora of writing events that can be occurring every single night! It’s been a pleasure to meet fantastic editors, authors, literary agents, and all those important pieces to the writing process. It’s inspiring to meet people so kind, humble, outgoing, and informative. The platform of writing is a stage and everyone has their own personality, story, and choice of genre to contribute. Everyone has their own story and it gives writers hope that they too have what it take.
