Zumba

PictureOne of the best instructors ever from the beautifully tragic city of Charleston. A Believer. A Mother. A Daughter. A friend.
It was my FIRST time doing Zumba at the Nami convention. Many have shared their love, passion, and life changing experiences with Zumba and I knew I was missing out on something!
There is something refreshingly and spiritually beautiful about Zumba. It gave me such satisfaction to see attendees and speakers just throw off their shoes and start dancing.  Zumba makes a statement that you can dance, burn calories, and lift your spirits all in one 45 minute class.

There was an older man with suspenders who was having the time of his life and he probably did a better job than me following the steps. This just overflows my heart with joy, yes people don't understand it, but I want people to live. With Zumba-people of all ages are living in that moment.  They are forgetting the bad day, the parking ticket, the deadline at work, the disagreement with their spouse-it all fades away and is replaced with one amazingly positive, enthusiastic, and spiritual instructor and a whole lot of dance moves.

Who knew Zumba included Hawaiian and South African dances-I thought it was only Spanish, but Spanish dances are at the core of Zumba as it welcomes all types of dance. What is great is that with repetition and a few classes the songs and/or dance moves stay in your head so you can practice at home.YOU could be a salsa dancer, Meringue, or Reggatone dancer at any point:)

Zumba truly confirms the power of dance and it's ability to life your feelings, moods, and spirits into a positive place. It's a space where people can feel comfortable and let themselves Just Dance without any judgment.
