Gold Coast Art Festival

6/22/2015

Everyone has their summer festivals that they love and mine are music and ART. Well, writing is also on the scene.
The Art Festivals are in the city, but they are also all over the suburbs.

Gold Coast Art festival is one of the biggest and perhaps the most expensive? I expected to see some familiar artists from a couple other festivals I attended. It's one of my favorite things to meet artists and discuss their passion, their creativity, dedication, and their story behind each piece. It's beautiful to see the different directions that creativity can take one. Paintings on the female body, expressionist, various cities, and people.

Artists vary in nationality and background as well as their years of painting. Many of them had this PURPOSE from a very young age. They were painting in their room at five years old or tearing up magazines and making collages.

It's all just fascinating to me because art is a form of human expression that can be shared from thoughts, feelings, experiences, childhood, travels, memories and more.
Forever and ever in love with ART!

Artists I met......
Enrique Suarez
Quite the interesting character who loves Jazz, Spanish culture, and has been born a painter. We spoke about my love and his for Salvador Dali and the beauty of Spanish culture. Might be hiring him for painting in the near future.

The lovely couple from San Francisco who work as a power team. She paints the colors of the rainbow with different shapes and figures utilizing magazine, newspaper, and multi-media. They recently bought an RV, which puts their life on the road from art show to art show.  Their children were all grown up and it was their time in life to run their business and enjoy life.
All these power couples are quite inspiring!

Who I Met?
Ended up seeing nice friend

He does photography work that is pretty amazing. Check him out!

Saw my hat buddy  who makes Fidoras. I actually met him in New Orleans at Jazz fest two years ago and there he was selling Fidoras. And I just so happened to be wearing his!  This man is so passionate about his work. He looked at my hat and was fixing the edges. He told me I need to iron the rims and shared all his upcoming Chicago festivals. He is from Philadelphia, but he travels all over the country. He can't keep up with all the shows he is booking and I can see why.......PURPOSE

Met a female artist from Poland named Lidia  who is absolutely fantastic. She is driven to paint by the boldness of women and the passion between women and man. Bought a small print, but wanted to buy at least five paintings

Met an adorable Philippino family selling "Frost Bytes." These small truffle size frozen treats with meringue and covered in buttercream crumbs and chocolate. I bought two of them...then I bought another two....and then they gave me two...if they were not frozen I might just have taken a pack of 24-sugar addict approved!! We were talking about the craziness of Manila and they were quite impressed I was there by myself. After actually being there, I told them, "So was I."
